Monthly averages, not live quotes. Each selected window shows its actual monthly observations (6–36 points). Percentage change compares the first and last monthly averages in that window. Lines connect observations; missing months are never interpolated. Unavailable periods are disabled. Reference movement is not the actual supplier purchase price or a direct finished-product cost increase.

02 / What they become

RAW METAL. WORKABLE MATERIAL. FINISHED DETAIL.

Stainless steel is chromium-containing steel. Common austenitic grades such as 304 also contain nickel; 316 additionally contains molybdenum. The pathways below describe material families, not universal recipes.

BRASS

Copper + zinc

Chains · castings · findings · components

Alloy specification and manufacturing route depend on the design.

STAINLESS 304

Iron + chromium + nickel

Chains · rings · earrings · components

A common austenitic stainless grade. Finish and construction still require specification.

STAINLESS 316

Iron + chromium + nickel + molybdenum

Selected corrosion-resistance applications

Molybdenum improves resistance in relevant environments; suitability is product-specific.

ZINC ALLOY

Zinc + other alloying metals

Cast fashion components

The alloy system, casting quality and finish affect the result.

GOLD PLATING

Gold → surface finish

Gold-tone plating systems

Surface preparation, plating specification and protective finish matter.

SILVER PLATING

Silver → surface finish

Silver plating systems

Confirm the actual deposit and finish; silver colour alone is not a silver specification.

Grade reference: Outokumpu stainless grade information. Confirm grade, construction and testing requirements for the actual product.

Country of origin is not the port of shipment. Routing Chinese-origin goods through another country does not by itself change origin. This comparison excludes terminated IEEPA duties and the expired Section 122 surcharge.

04 / Tariff vs. total sourcing cost

TARIFF IS ONLY ONE PART
OF TOTAL SOURCING COST.

Compare the whole programme on the same brief, specification, quantity and delivery requirement.

01 / Develop

Development speed.
Sampling turnaround.
Material & component access.

02 / Make

MOQ flexibility.
Repeat-order response.
Production consistency.

03 / Control

Approval standard.
Quality control.
Rework risk & buyer workload.

04 / Deliver

Duty & freight.
Lead time.
Ocean / air mode & reliability.

A higher headline duty can still be part of a workable programme; a lower duty does not establish a lower total cost. Compare documented quotes and operating assumptions. No country-wide performance ranking is implied.
